Here are some questions I found on numerous forums about the NodeZero so I will try to answer them:
1. Some tools doesn’t work in NodeZero?
Yes some tools doesn’t work in NodeZero. Some of them are missing dependencies, some of them need setup or configuration. Every tool that needs to be configured additionally is left for the users to configure them the way they want to.
2. Some tools are missing perl dependencies?
It’s true, I forgot to install some dependencies for some tools. You can always install them through cpan which is installed in NodeZero:
$sudo cpan
cpan [1]> install Some::Dependencies
3. Aircrack-ng doesn’t work on my laptop/computer?
Well this isn’t a NodeZero bug, this depends on if your card is supporting injection etc. Check your card compatibilty with aircrack-ng suite.
4. Nessus is missing?
Yes nessus is missing due to licence restrictions.
5.Tor browser is missing?
Tor browser is not missing. You have to stop polipo, or remove it from the system in order to Tor browser to work.
6. Keyboard layout is weird?
It’s not weird, it’s set to Croatian as default. You can change the layout easily by going on to preferences->keyboard and install your language layout.
7. Ettercap doesnt spoof well?
Belive me this is not a bug. This is only because you don’t know how to use it, or you are doing something wrong.
8. Everything changes when I update the system from 10.04 to 10.10?
Well this is beacuse the Ubuntu repositories are included in distro. On one hand this is good because you have access to all the apps and updates from Ubuntu repos in few clicks, but on the other hand if you upgrade the distro, a lot of things will change, including looks and feel. Ubuntu 10.04 is a LTS (long term support) so I wouldn’t recommend an update.
9. Where is the documentation on how to use the tools?
Nowhere. This is a distribution, and if you want to learn how to use specific tools you will have to go to their homepage and read the official documentation.
10. Why don’t you have a forum?
Forum is planned for the next release of the distro. It will be more of a Q&A forum, and not “how to crack my neighbours wifi”.
